On June 6, 1939, the first Little League game ever played was played in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The idea to start an organized baseball league came from Carl Stotz who lived in Williamsport. Little League has become the world’s largest youth sports program. Little League has expanded from three teams to over 200,000 in fifty states and 80 countries.

He had the first boy scout camp in Britain in 1907, and they later spread across the world. In 1950 and 1957 the National Scout Jamboree was held in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania and in 1953 it was held in Irvine Ranch, California. The Jamboree is a gathering of all the boy scouts in America, which is held every four years.
Juliette Gordon Low met Sir Robert Baden-Powell who was founder of the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts were born. On March 12, 1912, Juliette Low established the American Girl Guides. A year later the organization was changed to Girl Scouts. The birthplace of Juliette Low became the National Girl Scout Program Center in 1956.

In 1956 the Little League Foundation was created after Carl Stotz retired from the organization. In 1957, Monterrey, Mexico was the first team outside of the U.S. to win the Little League Title. The modern helmet was first used in 1959. President Dwight D. Eisenhower, in 1959, announces that the second week in June will be named National Little League week.
Little League and Boys and Girls Scouts were extremely popular activities in the 1950s. The Nation's love for the game of baseball helped expand the little league organization into what it is today. Boy and Girl Scouts were also very popular in the fifties becuase of the war that just ended and the popular idea to learn how to take care of yourself when it is necessary.
